The Internet Archive makes your time machine obsolete

Music piracy being the hot subject that it is, it's always nice to get something for free that really is free. Even better, in my opinion, is when that something let's you discover great recordings that you might not have ever heard otherwise.
Recently, I've found myself going back again and again to the Internet Archive's 78 RPMs & Cylinder Recordings collection. There I've found collected recordings of famous musicians such as John Philip Sousa, Al Jolson, and... well, in an attempt to write this up for you, I'm finding myself lost in the over 10,000 entries here. It's a lot to sift through, but whether you like some old bluegrass, some hot 20's jazz, or Harry Lauder, you're bound to find something you like.
Even better is that occasionally, I've run across comments on these recordings from people with historical involvement, whether as friends or relatives to the artists. That, to me, brings these recordings to life, knowing a little bit about circumstances of recording or just about the people themselves, I feel connected, myself.
